Curriculum & Assessment

In Doncaster School for the Deaf, we aim to provide the most suitable curriculum for every pupil, based on a thorough assessment of their needs.

We are able to provide a wide ranging and varied curriculum through our own provision, or through partnerships with other organisations such as our sister organisation, Doncaster College for the Deaf, and the mainstream Doncaster College, amongst others.

On entering the school, every pupil is given a baseline assessment in all curriculum areas in which they participate.

As they progress through the school their progress and development is monitored closely and tracked to make sure that they are being enabled to reach their full potential in all areas of school life.

Parents are also kept closely informed of progress through the use of reports, the Annual Review process and regularly updated Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and are welcome to visit the school and see the work that their child is doing.
